Additional Information

The vent bracket can be mounted, either to the face of the vent, or down onto the frame/edge if depth allows.  The mounting brackets on our telescopic screwjacks are interchangeable and can be seen in the related products section below.  This gives you the most flexibility when fitting to your window, if you're unsure of which bracket you need, our experts are happy to answer your questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you supply fixings with your screwjacks?

No, due to variety of different frame types and materials we're unable to supply fixings with our screwjacks.  Our brackets have 5mm holes suitable for use with countersunk screws, we recommend that you source your own screws to suit your window type and weight.

How far will my window open?

This will depend on the positioning of brackets on your window.  All our screwjacks have a stated opening distance, known as the opening stroke.  This opening distance will be achievable if the brackets are positioned in a way that allows the full use of the thread.  The opening distance reduction will be equal to the amount of unusable thread on our single thread screwjacks, for our telescopic screwjacks it will be twice that amount.

Can I use screwjacks on my vertical window?

When screwjacks are operated with a winder pole, you have to position yourself with the screwjack pointing directly at you.  So, if your vertical window is at a high level, operation with a pole is not usually feasible as the winder pole will be above your head.  If the window is at a lower height, then screwjacks can be used, we have both handle and pole types.  One thing to consider is that the screwjack may extend into the room space when the window is closed.
